malaise (noun)

Definition: We can use the word malaise when someone has a slight feeling or discomfort of not being happy or healthy.  It can also refer to a spiritual condition – a spiritual malaise.

Example: When a person is coming down with a cold, they may feel a sense of malaise for a few days.

Synonyms: depression, dissatisfaction, melancholy

Antonym: optimism, feeling good
